Collin College recently added massage therapy, welding courses and an online product management class to its continuing education lineup.

Collin College has added three new courses to its continuing education (CE) program lineup, including medical massage therapy, welding courses in Spanish and an online product management course.

“We are excited to bring this great opportunity to learners interested in this career who can learn all the fundamentals of massage therapy and pursue careers in various settings, including spas, hospitals, sporting facilities, and private practices,” said Nicole Green, Collin College’s medical massage therapy program coordinator. “Community members can also benefit from medical massage services offered at a low cost through the program. We can’t wait to serve our neighbors.”

The welding courses provide students with hands-on experience while learning about safe practices, welding equipment and common and advanced welding techniques, aiming to alleviate the shortage of welders in the workforce, the college said in a news release. According to an American Welding Society study done earlier this year, 330,000 welders and counting are needed over the next four years.

“These programs will provide basic knowledge for a career in welding,” said Brian Sanders, director of the welding program. “We hope that teaching these skills in Spanish will welcome a diverse group of learners who won’t allow language to be a barrier from earning an education in welding.”

For those aiming to up their entrepreneur game, the newly-online product management program focuses on the fundamentals of product management, product launch and product strategy.

“This offering is perfect for seasoned professionals looking to pivot their career or advance in their current roles,” said Jeanne Johnson, director of CE programming. “With the program being online, it’s a convenient way for working learners to take advantage of this opportunity.”
Collin College offers dozens of continuing education (CE) courses online and in person at 4800 Preston Park Boulevard.
