It’s written in the rankings — Plano is a top foodie city in the nation. And with that title comes great responsibility, so we like to note when restaurants are opening, closing or just coming together to celebrate food itself. Here’s five foodie updates to start your week:
ShangHai Taste
The long-awaited Las Vegas-based soup dumpling eatery finally opened on October 8. Headed by a James Beard-nominated chef, the acclaimed restaurant has been left dumpling lovers on the edge of their seats since the restaurant was announced in January. The restaurant is located at 109 Legacy Drive, suite 120 and is open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Piada Italian Street Food
The fast-casual Italian restaurant chain filed for construction on a new location on Coit Road and Ridgeview Drive, Community Impact reported. The construction of the new restaurant is estimated to finish in May 2025. Piada currently has one location in Plano at 3309 Dallas Parkway.
Plano Food & Wine Festival
On November 2, Legacy West will once again become home to 25 restaurants and a vast selection of wines. From noon to 4 p.m., restaurants like Lombardi Cucina Italiana, Toulouse Cafe & Bar and Tommy Bahama will battle it out for the People’s Choice Award, which will be announced at 4:15 p.m. The food tasting pass is $55. Wine tasting passes are also available for $45, granting access to 20 wine tasting tickets, a signature wine glass. A combination pass is also available for $80. As usual, the Lombardi Family Concepts Experience Stage will be host to demonstrations from the restaurant’s chefs throughout the day.
Jason’s Deli
Jason’s Deli opened a new location two weeks ago at 921 N Central Expressway, suite 102. Though the chain already has a location at 4801 W Parker Road, the new restaurant is the first of the chain’s with the company’s new rebrand, which includes ordering kiosks and a drive-thru. The Collin Creek-area restaurant had been in the area for over 30 years when it closed due to a fire last year.

Assembly Park updates
The newly-opened Assembly Park development has announced three new restaurant tenants recently, including Assembly Icehouse, Tacoro and Cliff Coffee. All three concepts are expected to open in spring 2025.
“As members of the local community, we recognized the shortage of nearby opportunities where kids can run free, parents can relax, and groups of friends can gather,” said Jacob Cox, managing member of Blender Brands. “We knew Assembly Park was set to be a game changer. We believe the human desire to congregate in an activated, outdoor environment, like what Assembly Park offers, meets the demands of today’s food and beverage consumers. Our hope with the introduction of these new concepts is to spur opportunity and continued growth for East Plano as well as encourage gathering for our residents, students and workers.”
