After months of anticipation, Dallas’ philanthropic coffee shop La La Land Kind Cafe is officially opening a Plano location on Feb. 24 in Preston Park Village.
The cafe, created by Forbes 30 Under 30 entrepreneur Francois Reihani, the concept first opened in Dallas with a goal to hire current and former foster youths, a message of spreading kindness and a stark-white interior that aims for a bright start to the morning. For Reihani, however, this isn’t just another location.
“When my family moved to Texas, Plano was our first home. It has a truly special place in my heart,” Reihani said. “The beautiful family environment, and the most welcoming people in the world. Plano made me feel like we were home. I am ecstatic to be back in Plano and able to add to this beautiful community.”
The new store features La La Land’s signature bright, open interior with a large glass chandelier and floor-to-ceiling windows that look out into the cafe’s patio. The Plano cafe, located at 2301 Preston Road, marks the ninth Texas location. La La Land also has locations in Los Angeles and Santa Monica, California.
The Plano location will also feature two new drinks: the World’s Best Vanilla Latte and a white chocolate latte. The menu offers coffee, matcha lattes, tea and lemonade (all served in signature bright yellow cups) and light bites like toast and overnight oats.
“Normalizing kindness is the mission, and coffee is the method,” the cafe boasts. And the kindness message isn’t just an aesthetic. The La La Land Foundation and La La Workforce Development Program provides foster youth ages 16-24 with life skills and employment at each city’s flagship location through a 12-week internship program that provides on-the-job training, mentorship and life skills.
In celebration of the grand opening of the Plano location, La La Land will hand out exclusive yellow cups, stickers and La La Love bags from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Feb. 24. The first 200 guests will also be gifted a complimentary La La Land mug. Starting March 2, the coffee shop will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
