From preschool to professional, Plano Public Library (PPL) has something for everyone. Check out some of their upcoming events – in-person and virtual – for all your educating and entertaining needs:
- Stock up on books at the sale (all ages)
The final Buy a Bag of Books Sale for 2024 runs December 7-15 at Haggard Library. For $10, cash (exact change only) or payments via PayPal, you will receive a bag to fill with books and media items from the sale, while supplies last. Inventory changes daily and includes materials for all ages.
The Book Sale is open when the Library is and bags are sold until 30 minutes before closing daily. All proceeds go to Friends of the Plano Public Library to benefit Library programs and resources.
- Meet a NASA Solar System Ambassador (all ages)
Explore the Night Sky meets on Tuesday, December 10 at 6:30 pm at Haggard Library. NASA Solar System Ambassador Les Murray will answer your questions about space and NASA missions. Take a look at the sky through a powerful telescope and see the moon! Free tickets are available 30 minutes before the program begins.
- Take a day trip to Poland – from Plano (all ages)
Learn about the history of the Flower Carpet (and make your own), Polish vocabulary through a scavenger hunt, design your own Krakowianka vest and more. Global Explorers: Poland meets on Saturday, December 14 at 3 pm at Schimelpfenig Library.
- Learn about 3D printing (all ages)
Intro to 3D Printing meets on Friday, December 27 at 3 pm at Davis Library. Learn about the additive manufacturing process of making three dimensional objects available at Plano Public Library and view a 3D Printing machine.

- Celebrate the New Year at noon (all ages)
Ringing in the New Year isn’t just for those who can stay up until midnight! PPL is hosting three Noon Year’s Eve events on Tuesday, December 31 at 11:30am: Davis, Harrington and Parr. Come in your pajamas to celebrate the new year early with do-it-yourself party poppers and hats, a photo booth and a countdown to 12 noon.
