Some unlikely artists are painting outside the box and tackling a unique kind of canvas.

In an effort to raise money for Powered to Move, an organization which helps promote physical fitness for people with disabilities, notable musicians from around the country have come together to paint unusual canvases – steer skulls – that will be auctioned off starting Nov. 15 at khyi.com.

Through the Canvas4kids charity auction, music fans and art lovers alike can bid on original creations from musicians including CMA Award-winning vocalist Lee Ann Womack, actor/musician Kiefer Sutherland, blues singer-songwriter Delbert McClinton and Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett. Other celebrities contributing their art include McKinney’s own Zane Williams, Cody and Willy Braun of Reckless Kelly, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Cody Canada, as well as Matt Hillyer from Dallas-based band Eleven Hundred Springs.

For art aficionados who appreciate seeing the masterpieces in person, all of the painted skulls will be on display Nov. 15 through Dec. 13 at Mercedes Benz of McKinney at 2080 N. Central Expressway.
