On Nov. 16, Plano Parks and Recreation’s High Point Park Tennis Center opened a brand-new, two-story pro shop. The former shop will be demolished to allow room for a new tennis court. In High Point’s 42-year history, it has never undergone major renovations, but the center will soon receive a revitalized look. The pro shop is just the beginning of the renovations.
High Point currently has 21 lighted, outdoor tennis courts and eight combination Pickleball-Quick Start tennis courts. During renovations, the center remains open for public activities and programs.
A modern two-story facility replaced the previous single-story pro shop. “The first floor is very spacious and bright, with ample room for retail. The second floor provides a lot of seating, including a large balcony,” said Ken Sumrow, director of High Point Tennis Center, of the new facility. “It is a beautiful building with state-of-the-art lighting, fixtures and designs.”
On top of the new pro shop, High Point plans include updated fencing, windscreens, and walkways as well as new playground and true center court. The entire project is slated to finish in late February. The center will stay open throughout the process.
