Plano ISD announces two new high school principals

Plano ISD hired two new high school principals for the upcoming school year. Kennitra Robertson will serve as principal at Plano Senior High School and Billie-Jean Lee will lead Plano West Senior High School.

Robertson will replace Jeff Banner at Plano Senior High School. She brings experience from her time as principal at Vines High School and Robinson Middle School. She has also taught in the district as an 8th-grade science teacher at Wilson Middle School and an assistant principal at Otto Middle School.

“At Plano Senior High School, we will continue to honor the rich traditions and achievements that have shaped our school’s proud history, while preparing and encouraging students to be successful in their postsecondary endeavors,” Robertson said.

With a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M Commerce, Robertson is a certified principal for grades Early Childhood-12 and a generalist for grades 4-8.

“Kennitra has a proven track record here in Plano ISD,” Plano ISD Executive Director for School Leadership Steve Ewing said. “She has not only led at a very high level at each campus but is also very active on several district committees.”

Billie-Jean Lee will succeed retiring Plano West principal Janis Williams. Lee has worked in the district for 35 years. She worked as the principal of Robinson Middle School and the assistant principal of Renner Middle School.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Billie-Jean several years,” Ewing said. “I can say she is an outstanding leader who embodies the mission and vision of Plano ISD.”

Lee earned her bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Henderson State University and her master’s degree in Music Education from Texas A&M Commerce. She has a mild-management certification and principal and superintendent certifications.

“I am excited for this opportunity to lead the Blue Nation and continue serving the students and families in the West cluster,” Lee said. “I have been fortunate to be a part of this community for many years, and I am honored to be named principal of Plano West.”
