A webinar for interested parents and guardians will take place on Monday, April 13 at 6 p.m. Applications close April 30.

Plano high school students will soon have the opportunity to take part in a PILOT program to offer fully virtual and hybrid learning options through Plano ISD.

For students who enroll in the program, there are two options: fully virtual or hybrid. All courses are district-approved and taught by certified Plano ISD educators.

While the program is free, high-level courses like AP or NCAA clearinghouse will have a $325 fee per semester that must be paid before starting.

According to the district’s website, applicants must:

  • be enrolled in Plano ISD
  • Have completed previous STAAR/EOC assessments
  • Have a minimum of 95% attendance in the previous school year
  • Have no technology violations
  • Have limited modifications as determined by the ARD committee
  • Have limited language accommodations
  • (Some exceptions apply)

Applications are open now through the end of the month. Students will receive a notification of acceptance or denial on May 15. Placement is based on a lottery system.

A webinar for parents/guardians who are interested in the program will be held on April 13 at 6 p.m.

Plano joins a short list of school districts with this option, including statewide campuses (Texarkana ISD, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, Houston ISD, Huntsville ISD and Hallsville ISD) and virtual options campuses like Conroe ISD, Dallas ISD, Fort Stockton ISD, Forney ISD, Goose Creek CISD, Hutto ISD, Roscoe Collegiate ISD and South Texas ISD.
