Rep. Van Taylor accepting applications for youth council

Rep. Van Taylor is now accepting applications for the Congressional Youth Advisory Council.  The program was created to encourage student engagement in government.

Participants are given a unique opportunity to learn about the federal government.  Students get to discuss public policy and issues facing Collin County. They also get to interact with Taylor and his staff while serving the community.

“Each previous class of CYAC participants have proven Collin County is home to engaged, energetic, and incredibly involved high school students who want to help others and improve their community,” Taylor says. “I’m always inspired by the outstanding students and future leaders I meet when visiting schools throughout Texas’ Third Congressional District and am excited to announce my third Congressional Youth Advisory Council.”

All high school students who live in the Texas Third Congressional District are invited to apply. That area includes the majority of Plano, Frisco, Allen and McKinney as well as portions of other nearby communities.

Interested students must submit their applications and supporting materials by 5 p.m. Aug. 5. More information can be found on Taylor’s website. Those with additional questions are advised to contact Emma Mcilheran of Rep. Taylor’s office by phone at (972) 202-4150 or email her at Emma.Mcilheran@mail.house.gov.
