Bust out the lederhosen, folks, it’s time for Plano’s Steinfest! This Oktoberfest-style event brings all the best that German culture has to offer to Plano. You’ll find amazing food, German beer, hearty oompa music, beer, dancing, beer, shopping–and did I mention the beer?
Steinfest happens on Saturday, October 29 from 10am to 10pm in the Downtown Plano Arts District. You’ll be thoroughly entertained all day with a packed schedule that includes a Swiss Alphorn Quartet, the Alpine Dancers Edelweiss, a Stein Racing Contest, a Masskrugstemmen (Strongman) Competition and––that’s right––the chance to twirl your partner ‘round and ‘round to the melodic rhythmic thumping of the Chardon Polka Band. A Weiner Dog Fashion Show will be held (any furry friends may compete), and 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded by judges from SPCA Second Chance.
Full Steinfest schedule:
Don’t have your dirndl handy? Shop the artist’s village full of craftsman and makers and pick up some festive attire! Younger attendees will enjoy the kids’ zone with a show pony photo opportunity, crafts, face painting and chalk art. Adults will enjoy Keg Bowling behind McCall Plaza, a VIP Bier Garden and an array of Germanic cuisine that may or may not cause you to unfasten the top button of those lederhosen.
Steinfest is free to attend, and food and beverages must be purchased with coupons available on site. If you’re serious about your beer, you’ll definitely be interested in the VIP Package which includes 20 food and beverage coupons, a commemorative stein, a Steinfest t-shirt and access to the VIP Bier Garden with a private bar–all for $40 per person.
Participating Steinfest restaurants include Jorg’s Café Vienna, Angela’s at the Crosswalk, Ye Olde Butcher Shoppe, Brat Haus, Urban Crust, Urban Rio, Social Mini Donuts and Dude, Sweet Chocolate.
