1. Memories in the making

(ages 18+)

The process of creating art stimulates the mind and senses in beneficial ways, and at the Watercolor Workshop on Saturday, December 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Haggard Library – presented by the Alzheimer’s Association – you will learn how to utilize inspirational images to connect with others, stimulate recall, and uncover stories from the past.

2. ‘Tis the baking season

(ages 18+)

Our monthly food-themed book club, Cook the Book, is getting ready for the holidays! The theme for December is gingerbread. Stop by Davis Library to pick out your recipe from our collection of cookbooks, and bring enough to share on Tuesday, December 11 at 1 p.m.

3. Get wild at PPL

(ages 0-100)

Love going to the zoo, but don’t want to deal with the traffic? Get a closer look at a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles when the Dallas Zoo comes to Davis Library on Saturday, December 15 at 1:30 and 3 p.m. These two showings will definitely fill, as will the parking lot, so put a reminder on your calendar to get there early!

4. Experiment with science over the holidays

(ages 0-100, limited space)

Explore Isaac Newton’s Laws of Motion and re-create different experiments to develop an understanding of the laws at two sessions: learn all three laws at Schimelpfenig Library on Thursday, December 20 at 3 p.m. and go in-depth with the third law (for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction) at Davis Library on Sunday, December 30 at 2 p.m. Space is limited, so show up 30 minutes ahead of time to grab a ticket.

5. eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines made easy

(ages 18+)

Did you get a new phone or tablet for the holidays and you want to get the most from it? Learn how to access thousands of free eBooks, audiobooks and digital magazines from Plano Public Library, get help downloading exactly what you need and leave ready to read! Our librarians will be at Parr Library on Thursday, December 27 at 7 p.m. to get you set up for easy reading in the new year.
