This place has more TVs than tables. Seriously.
Out of a desire for a casual sports bar in the neighborhood, Mehmet Shon Celik, owner of Turkish Café & Lounge, opened Woodtop Tavern with the hopes of it becoming Plano’s spot to watch good games, eat good food, drink good drinks and enjoy good company. Sounds pretty good, right?
“I love creating new concepts that are comfortable and inviting,” said Shon. “We’ve done exactly that with Woodtop Tavern. It’s the perfect spot for a happy hour with friends and co-workers, watching your favorite sports team, or just relaxing on the patio with a good drink. We want it to be your go to neighborhood bar.”
The tavern has 24 TVs in the dining room, completely encircling the room so guests can watch up to 8 different games at once, no matter where they are seated. There is also a juke box, two pool tables and a stage for live music entertainment on the weekends.
The well-stocked bar serves 10 draft beers as well as several beers in the bottle plus a variety of wines, cocktails and spirits. The food menu has a little something for everyone including classic starters like mozzarella sticks and nachos as well as larger plates like specialty burgers, grilled fish, chicken wings, a variety of pizza and tacos and even a 10-ounce New York strip steak.
There is a nice little outdoor patio with a gas grill that Woodtop Tavern hopes to utilize in the summer for outdoor cookouts.
Woodtop Tavern is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
