The District at The Shops at Willow Bend just got a little bit sweeter. Açaí and Alchemy, an all natural “superfood lab” offering refreshing smoothie bowls and juices, recently celebrated its soft opening in May with plans to fully open later this month.
Dallas native Lisa Nguyen created Açaí and Alchemy out of a deep appreciation and passion for food. While studying abroad in Hawaii in 2011 during college, she fell in love with açaí bowls and was refreshed by the natural energy she had after consuming a bowl. Fast forward to 2018, Lisa knew it was time to pursue her dream of opening a specialized açaí shop in town.
Lisa, already owner of Cowboys Nail Bar, knew Plano was the place for her new business. She was attracted to the top-notch tenant mix at The District and was eager to be a part of the new development at The Shops at Willow Bend.
Açaí and Alchemy serves açaí bowls, smoothie bowls, smoothies, seasonal juices, loose leaf teas, tea lattes and more. Each bowl starts with a blend of fruits and added non-dairy ingredients such as coconut water or almond milk to create an ice cream-like consistency. The bowls can then be topped with additional fruit, granola and raw honey to make the perfect mix. No matter what blend you choose, guests can always expect a refreshing treat.
According to Lisa, the açaí berry has the most antioxidants of any other fruit or vegetable, making it a “superfruit.” Lisa and her team pride themselves on the superior quality of the açaí in their bowls. They solely use 100% organic, Grade A açaí.
“Food to me is an essential part of life and community,” said Lisa. “Eating with friends and loved ones are the moments when the best memories are made. So this new concept was an avenue for me to bring together everything I am obsessed about in life – food, nutrients, community, people and the chance to create a memorable experience.”
Açaí and Alchemy is open Sundays from 11am-6pm and Monday-Saturday 9am-9pm.
