The Boardwalk at Granite Park is getting a yacht club, albeit one without boats. Suburban Yacht Club, the newest addition to the 33 Restaurant Group family, will open this June in the site formerly occupied by Hookline.
The family-friendly spot – as all of the restaurant group’s concepts are – will feature food inspired by the southern California food truck scene and its melting pot of ethnic influences. This will be reflected in items like quesabirria, crispy carnitas and Baja-style fish tacos. The menu crafted by culinary director Brian C. Luscher will also include a classic Boardwalk burger inspired by boardwalks of L.A. and Santa Monica. There will also be smoke-roasted chicken and ribs, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos elote and fresh-catch ceviche.
Chef Brandon Pappalardo, known for his work at The Grape on Greenville Avenue, will oversee the kitchen. The restaurant will also feature a “tiki-forward beverage program” inspired by tiki bar cocktails. Luscher says this will be fresh, fun and cheerful, highlighted in a selection of frozen and craft cocktails as well as a “thoughtful” wine list and sangria on tap.
Suburban Yacht Club is the latest concept from 33 Restaurant Group, the company behind popular outposts like Taverna Rossa, The Yard in McKinney and The Boardwalk’s Union Bear. Cofounder Preston Lancaster says he’s excited about introducing his latest concept to The Boardwalk.
“The SoCal vibes are evident throughout the diverse and evolving offerings on the menu to the flow of the indoor/outdoor dining space and distinctively spirited cocktails,” he says. “We look forward to sharing these elemental coastal vibes with our neighbors.”
