From preschool to professional, Plano Public Library (PPL) has something for everyone. Check out some of their upcoming events – in-person and virtual – for all your educating and entertaining needs:
- Make your home burglar-resistant
Plano Police Officer Chris Bianez empowers homeowners with practical techniques to make their homes more burglar-resistant and protect their mail and packages from theft. Learn about Holiday Safety with Plano Police on Tuesday, November 12 from 6:30-8pm at Davis Library.
From enhancing home security measures to implementing smart delivery solutions, this program can increase your peace of mind and help you enjoy the holidays. Contains mature subject matter not appropriate for young children, parental discretion advised.
- Create a nicho (grades 6-12)
Nichos are mini altars in the form of shadow boxes, created using recycled and repurposed materials. Our workshop, Mexican Folk Art: Nichos, meets on Sunday, November 24 at 2pm at Parr Library. Learn about and create your own Nichos – a type of folk art practiced in Central and South America. This is a ticketed program, free tickets are available 30 minutes before the program begins.
- Take charge of your financial future (ages 16-18)
College students from the UNT Student Money Management Center are coming to Haggard Library on Monday, November 25 at 3pm to give you practical tips and tools about your money. Discover how your attitudes towards money are shaped by those around you. Learn to recognize your money influences and set SMART goals to reach your idea of success.
- Knit with others (ages 18+)
Sit & Stitch is a monthly meet-up of fiber artists and hobbyists! Do you knit, crochet, cross-stitch, or have another hobby that uses needle and thread? Connect with other creators while you discuss your project, share tips and tricks, and chat. Sit & Stitch meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7pm at Haggard Library, including November 11 and 25.
- Contribute to Citizen Science (grades K-5)
Squirrels are all around us! Learn about your neighborhood squirrels and how observing them can contribute to citizen science at the Nature Journaling: Project Squirrel workshop on Saturday, November 30 at 3pm at Schimelpfenig Library. Free tickets are available 30 minutes before the program begins.

If you do not already have a Plano Public Library card, be sure to register online here. All Plano Public Library locations are open to use computers, browse the collection, and attend in-person programs. Porch side pickup for holds is available, and you can always access eLibrary content online.
