Frito-Lay headquarters are serving as a halfway point in Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation’s Rolling Remembrance event, which will feature a 14,000-mile-long American flag relay in support of those who have lost a parent in the line of duty.
“Approximately 25,000 children have lost a parent in military service over the last 35 years. Many surviving families struggle to make ends meet with 52% of surviving spouses making less than $50,000 per year according to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation,” a news release said. “With no central repository of information from which to find these families, the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation works to find each of these children to assist them with scholarships and educational counseling.”
The flag will crisscross around the country for more than two months alongside 55 Frito-Lay and Pepsi semi-truck drivers, who are all military veterans themselves, for the 61 stops, including Frito-Lay headquarters..
“The relay is an annual tradition for Frito-Lay’s more than 66,000 employees, nearly 7,000 of which call the Metroplex home,” according to a news release. “Now in its ninth year, the Rolling Remembrance relay has raised more than $2 million for the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, equivalent to 320 years of college tuition for their scholars.”
