Plano West Senior High School alumnus Logan Goff will soon represent the United States as a finalist for the 39th Annual Festival de Hyeres in October in Hyères, France.
The Festival de Hyères was founded by Jean-Pierre Blanc to spotlight young international talents, with categories in photography, accessories and fashion design.
While as PWSH, Goff took the two fashion classes provided by Plano ISD: Fashion and Advanced Fashion. In the summer between his junior and senior year there, he attended a fashion design summer program at the Parsons New School of Design in New York City, where he was accepted later in the year.
According to a news release, Goff “honed his craft” at Parsons by creating custom jeans. While in his junior year of college, he was accepted into the Parsons School in Paris for a 12-month study abroad program.
“The courses in Paris provided a greater level of depth in the fundamentals, along with an advanced curriculum that would be critical to my success,” Goff said. “At the same time, I was building connections and relationships with like-minded individuals from all over the world.”
Goff’s senior thesis at Parsons featured a collection of seven full outfits/looks called Asphalt Cowboy, merging two archetypes and landing him an internship at the French fashion house Isabel Marant, where his work was featured in several French and European magazines, according to a news release.
“Thinking back on my junior year in the Plano West Senior High School Fashion class, I would never have imagined my educational journey would have taken me down this path in my pursuit of a career in fashion,” Goff said. “I never would have found myself in Paris without the lessons taught and the passion for design articulated by a single teacher in my high school fashion class, Mrs. Jodi Miller.”
“This is one of the most exciting opportunities in the fashion industry, and I am beyond proud of this young man,” Miller, who still currently teaches fashion at Plano West, said.
