Plano’s former star soccer player Brandon Aubrey is set to receive a key to the City in a ceremony with Mayor John Muns next week after a successful first season as a Dallas Cowboys kicker.
Aubrey graduated from Plano Senior High in 2013 where he was a “star” soccer player. He went on to play for Notre Dame for four years, totaling 15 goals in 76 appearances as a defender. Following college, he was drafted 21st overall in Major League Soccer’s SuperDraft by Toronto FC in 2017. He ended his soccer career one year later.
In 2022, Aubrey reappeared in the sports scene with the Birmingham Stallions, quickly becoming recognized as a “top kicker,” earning USFL honors and leading the team to two championships. Now, in his first year with the Dallas Cowboys, Aubrey has earned many accolades including:
- Most consecutive field goals made to start a career: 36 (2023)
- Most field goals made of 50+ yards without a miss in a single season: 10
- Most kickoffs for touchbacks in a single season: 99
- Highest field goal percentage by a rookie in a single season: 94.7%
- First player to make their first 10 field goal attempts in their first three games (Super Bowl era)
- First player to make their first 20 field goal attempts
- First player to make their first 30 field goal attempts
- First player to make two 59+ yard field goals in a single game (December 10, 2023, vs. Philadelphia Eagles)
- Longest field goal in the first quarter of a game: 60 yards (December 10, 2023, vs. Philadelphia Eagles)
The key ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. on May 22 at the ArtCentre of Plano, located at 902 E. 16th Street. The event is open to the public.
