If you’ve ever spent time in Chicago, you are likely familiar with Portillo’s.  The ubiquitous chain is well-known in that area for its over-the-top hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches among other offerings. According to a report in the Chicago Tribune last week, the chain could soon be coming to Texas.  Chief operating officer Derrick Pratt told the paper the company is planning to open its first Lone Star State outpost next year “in a town near Frisco.”

Portillo’s now has 67 restaurants across nine states.  Most are in Illinois and neighboring Midwestern states, though there are a few locations in California, Arizona and Florida.

In the Tribune article, Pratt says that the company hopes to grow by approximately 10 percent per year over the next 25 years.  Its plans are squarely focused on places like Texas, Florida and Arizona.  He adds that Texas is Portillo’s top state for ship-to-home orders.
