Jordan ordered that the continuance be granted, canceling the trial date of Aug. 11 and determining that the new trial date be determined following the final judgment of the Virginia-based case.

The United States District Court in the Eastern District of Texas, located in Plano, has delayed a jury trial over Google’s digital advertising practices until final judgment can be delivered in a similar antitrust case against Google based out of Virginia.

The trial was originally set for March, then moved to August. It was estimated to be complete by mid-September.

“[The Virginia case] involves claims and issues substantially overlapping with this case and is at an advanced stage in its proceedings,” U.S. District Judge Sean D. Jordan said on July 17 in a ruling regarding the upcoming trial. ” … the final judgment in the EDVA Action may substantially narrow the issues to be tried in this case.”

Jordan ordered that the continuance be granted, canceling the trial date of Aug. 11 and determining that the new trial date be determined following the final judgment of the Virginia-based case.

Google requested to have the case tried in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, “because the Northern District of California constitutes a clearly more convenient forum for this action.” However, the motion was denied, we reported last year.
