Sprinkles is partnering with an AAPI-centered nonprofit this Lunar New Year to celebrate the Chinese holiday for the first time.

The Lunar New Year is coming up quickly, and Sprinkles is ready for the occasion. The Plano favorite cupcake joint is partnering with Gold House, an AAPI-centered nonprofit, to create a limited-edition cupcake, the first in company history to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

“Sprinkles is a cultural powerhouse, and we are honored to celebrate Lunar New Year together through this reimagining of their classic red velvet cupcake,” said Jeremy Tran, Chief Operating Officer & Executive Director of Gold House. “We can’t wait to see these special cupcakes play a part in festivities and well wishes for the year ahead.”

The Gold Bunny Almond Red Velvet cupcake features the iconic red velvet cake swirled with almond slivers on an almond cookie crust with almond cream cheese frosting and a Gold House sugar decoration. The central almond ingredient is symbolic of good luck in Chinese culture and the gold bunny represents 2023’s Year of the Rabbit.

“Collaborating with a groundbreaking organization like Gold House to create Sprinkles’ first Lunar New Year cupcake is meaningful in every way,” said Michelle Wong, Chief Marketing Officer of Sprinkles. “Lunar New Year is a time to honor the ones we love and wish them an abundant and prosperous year ahead, and much of this is communicated and shared through food. Being able to share a piece of our culture with a wide audience is a dream come true.”

Sprinkles also worked with AAPI designer Madison Mariani to design exclusive red envelopes to gift during the season. The envelops will be included in Lunar New Year Red Box Bundles orders, which are $88 and include three Gold Bunny Almond Red Velvet cupcakes, three red velvet, three dark chocolate, three strawberry and eight limited-edition red envelopes.

These cupcakes will be available for purchase for $6 from January 16-29. Sprinkles Plano is one of five Texas locations and is located at 7500 Windrose Ave.
