Hub Streat won’t officially open in downtown Plano until this spring, but the self-proclaimed “culinary entertainment center” will be treating Planoites to the Hub Streat Food Truck Derby (think block party) on Saturday, Jan. 28.
When complete in late March (fingers crossed), Hub Streat will be home to the first food truck park in Plano. Located at 14th St. and M Ave. in downtown Plano, the entertainment center has two permanent structures that will house four signature restaurants (serving tacos, rotisserie meats, pizza, spuds and more), multiple bar areas (with large screen TVs) and a live music stage. Outdoor amenities will include fire pits, cabanas, rotating food trucks and a beer garden.
If Hub Streat won’t be open until late March, then why are they hosting a Food Truck Derby in their parking lot?
As Hub Streat’s General Manager Scott Diss explained, “We retain one goal in mind. That is to celebrate life deliciously. What better way to get people together and give them a taste of what Hub Streat is about than to have a Food Truck Derby? This community has waited a long time and has been patient with our setbacks, so we wanted to reward them with a good time, great food, live entertainment, and lots of opportunities to win a multitude of Hub Experiences. An introduction to us is an introduction to the community we are thrilled to be a part of.”
From 11am – 5:30pm on Jan. 28, the Hub Streat Food Truck Derby will treat guests to a whole slew of food trucks, plus a full bar and live music. Admission is free, but bring cash or credit cards to purchase drinks and food.
Hub Streat will also be doing prize drawings and giveaways during the event. Kids and leashed pups are welcome. Seating will be limited, so BYOChair if you plan on coming later in the day.
The Food Truck Derby takes place in the parking lot of the yet-to-be-completed venue. Limited parking will be available on site, so check out the public parking spots in downtown.
