JCPenney tops list of America’s Favorite Department Stores

The USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice Awards are nominated by USA Today editors and voted on by the public over 4 weeks.

This weekend, USA Today announced several winners in their 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, with Plano-based JCPenney being awarded Best Department Store for the second consecutive year.

“This award reaffirms our confidence in our reinvestment progress – everything we have worked toward is coming together and we’re proud consumers are taking notice,” said Chief Executive Officer Marc Rosen in a news release.

Nominations are chosen from a panel of editors from USA Today 10Best, with voting available to the public for four weeks on myriad topics. The top 10 list of department stores included, in order, JCPenney, Belk, Macy’s, Kohl’s, Von Maur, Burlington, Nordstrom, Target, Boscov’s and Walmart. Aside from department stores that also sell groceries, Walmart and Target, JCPenney is the second largest retailer on the Top 10 list, with more than 600 locations to Burlington’s 1,000+.

JCPenney is based in Plano at the Campus at Legacy West, where it employs more than 2,000 associates.

The 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards are still open for voting in several categories.
