From preschool to professional, Plano Public Library (PPL) has something for everyone. Take a look at PPL’s free programs for all your educating and entertaining needs.

  • Stock Up at the Bag of Books Sale (All Ages) 

Fill your shelves without emptying your wallet at the Plano Library Friends’ Bag of Books Sale. Browse thousands of gently used books for readers of all ages and discover your next favorite read while supporting the library. Whether you’re hunting for children’s books, mysteries or hidden treasures, there’s something for every book lover.

  • Build Skills for Everyday Life (Teens & Adults) 

Gain practical knowledge you can use long after the program ends. Whether you’re preparing for a new school year, learning strategies to save money and reduce food waste, or building healthy financial habits, these programs offer real-world skills to help you navigate everyday life with confidence.

Financial Intelligence Training (Grades 9–12)
Tuesday, July 7 | 2 pm | Haggard Library

Get practical tools to take charge of your financial future. Learn to recognize who and what influences your attitudes toward money and set SMART goals to reach your idea of success. Certificate awarded on completion. Presented by college students from University of North Texas Student Money Management Center.

Back to School with Confidence (Parents)
Wednesday, July 29 | 6:30 pm | Davis Library

Learn helpful ways to ease your child back into school after summer. We’ll touch on common emotions, simple ways to rebuild social comfort, and healthy routines that can make the return smoother. Leave with supportive strategies to help children feel secure, connected, and ready for the year ahead. Presented by a child development specialist from the University of Texas at Dallas. 

Food Preservation 101 (Ages 16+)
Thursday, July 30 | 6:30 pm | Parr Library

Home canning, freezing, and drying offer control, self-sufficiency, and cost savings. Follow safe methods and tested recipes to prevent illness and spoilage. Presented by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension

  1. Enjoy a Puppet Show Adventure (Ages 0–5)
    Bring your little ones to the library for stories brought to life through music, humor and colorful characters. This July, young audiences can join Henny Penny on her quest to warn her friends that the sky is falling or celebrate teamwork and perseverance with the fiesta-filled tale of Mañana Iguana. These family favorites are a fun way to introduce children to storytelling, language and live performance.

  1. Create Art Inspired by World Cultures
    Travel the world through art this summer at Plano Public Library. Learn about artistic traditions from different cultures while creating your own unique projects, from colorful Slavic hanging chandeliers to bottle cap magnets inspired by the Mexican and Mexican-American art movement known as Rasquachismo.

  1. Experiment with the Perot TECH Truck (Families)
    Get hands-on with science, technology, engineering, arts and math during this special community event featuring the Perot Museum of Nature and Science TECH Truck. Through interactive activities and creative challenges, kids and caregivers can explore STEAM concepts together while building confidence, curiosity and problem-solving skills.
