This year Plano Public Library Celebrates its 60th birthday. Join the celebration with this month’s Top 5 Things to Do at Your Library.

From preschool to professional, Plano Public Library (PPL) has something for everyone. Take a look at PPL’s free programs – offered both in-person and virtually – for all your educating and entertaining needs:

  • Celebrate the Week of the Young Child! – (all ages)

The 2025 Week of the Young Child is from April 5–11. This annual event celebrates early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. Kick off a week of early literacy and community connections with hands-on activities and child development information.

Community Playdate (ages 0-5): Harrington Library | Sunday, April 6 | 2:00pm-3:00pm

Making Healthy Habits as a Family (adults): Parr Library | Tuesday, April 8 | 6:30pm-7:30pm

  • Experience our Community Art Exhibit (all ages) 

In 2025, Plano Public Library turns 60, and we’re celebrating all year long! Join us for the Library Art Experience: PPL Celebrates 60 at Haggard Library from April 17–19. This special exhibit will showcase artwork created by community members. From watercolor to collage to pointillism, these pieces capture the vibrant spirit of imagination and connection.

Still need to get your taxes done? Our volunteers can help! Free tax preparation assistance is available to the public provided by AARP, Catholic Charities of Dallas & VITA. Appointments are required.

  • Stay Inventive with “Golden STEAM Explorers” (adults, 50+)

You’re never too old to learn about science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). Each session includes a mini-lesson and hands-on activity for adults ages 50+. The topic for our April program is Geology and Mythology: The Story of Hawaii.

  1. Make Abstract Art with the Allen Arts Alliance (all ages)

“ArtSparks: Abstract Art – Learn & Make” (all ages)

The Plano Public Library, in partnership with the Allen Arts Alliance, is offering a new program: ArtSparks: Abstract Art – Learn & Make. In Abstract Art: Learn Discover the origins, evolution and styles of the abstract art movement. In Abstract Art: Make – Enjoy trying the artistic style demonstrated in the Learn session, great for all ages!

If you do not already have a Plano Public Library card, be sure to register online here. All Plano Public Library locations are open to use computers, browse the collection, and attend in-person programs. Porch side pickup for holds is available, and you can always access eLibrary content online.

All libraries will be closed on Sunday, April 20th for Easter Sunday.
