Mary + Martin Custom Letterpress, located in east Plano, offers letterpress printing uniquely tailored to each client. The boutique studio prints wedding invitations, personal stationary, holiday cards, gift tags, business cards, and pretty much anything you can put to paper. They also offer special services like custom calligraphy, laser cutting, foil, beveled edge, edge painting and custom envelope liners.
Here’s what makes letterpress printing so special: a giant, old, very heavy printing press impresses an inked plate against the paper, individually for each print (or envelope or business card or whatever you’re printing). If you need 1,000 cards, the operator manually inserts and removes the paper 1,000 times. Owner Molly Anthony believes that for most people who are accustomed to digital printing, letterpress items have a hand-made, personal touch to them. It makes every item feel special.
