On Friday, April 20, USA TODAY 10Best announced the results for their Readers’ Choice 2018 travel award contest for “Best Tex-Mex in Texas,” including Mi Dia From Scratch at spot #10. The Grapevine location of Mi Dia From Scratch was one of three restaurants in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex to snag a spot on the list. (Mi Dia from Scratch also has a Plano location.) The other two Texas restaurants to make the list were Joe T. Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant and Enchilada’s Ole in Fort Worth.
Mi Dia From Scratch, spearheaded by Chef-Managing Partner Gabriel DeLeon, features a blend of traditional Tex-Mex and Santa Fe flavors with authentic Mexico City recipes. Chef DeLeon takes much of his inspiration from his passion for travel throughout the world to bring authenticity to his dishes. Mi Dia From Scratch is named for DeLeon’s use of authentic ingredients in creating unique dishes by hand and from scratch inspired by his training with renowned Mexican Chef Patricia Quintana in Mexico City.

El Manatial Restaurant, Amarillo; 7. Enchilada’s Ole, Fort Worth; 8. Garcia’s Mexican Food, San Antonio; 9. Mi Tierra Café y Panaderia, San Antonio; and 10. Mi Dia From Scratch, Grapevine.
A panel of experts partnered with 10Best editors to pick the initial 20 nominees and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote. Experts were chosen based on their knowledge and experience of Texas’ food scene.
Mi Dia From Scratch opened its doors to the Grapevine community in October, 2011. After the success of the original location, Mi Dia From Scratch has since opened two other restaurants locations in the DFW area including a West Plano Village location in Plano, Texas, and the newest Flower Mound location, which opened its doors in August, 2017.
