Plano Chamber of Commerce Moves into New Offices

As the Plano Chamber of Commerce relocates from its long tenure in downtown Plano, it will write several new pages to its history book. Wednesday, August 24 marks the first day at the Chamber’s new headquarters at 5400 Independence Parkway, Suite 200. As the result of a well-vetted partnership with LegacyTexas, the Plano Chamber will occupy space in the second floor of the bank’s newly renovated, highly sophisticated business center. This unique partnership will allow the Chamber to offer expanded services and amenities not only to its members, but those of the bank as well.

The Plano Chamber had reached capacity at its former downtown building, where it had been located since 1974. In addition, “Research indicated that 85% of current membership was west of Custer Road,” explained Jamee Jolly, Plano Chamber President and CEO. This information indicated a more central location would be desirable for the majority of Chamber members.

An initiative team was formed roughly four years. This was about the same time LegacyTexas was seeking excess office space utilization and a desire to further enhance services to their client community. An individual involved in both organizations was the key to recognizing a common goal.

“LegacyTexas has a 46-year history with the Chamber, so this collaboration was a natural fit,” commented LegacyTexas Executive Vice President Chuck Eikenberg. “We are excited to welcome the Plano Chamber as our new neighbor.”

As part of a multi-year agreement with the bank, the Chamber will utilize 25% of the 10,000 square foot shared space for its offices. The Chamber will also manage and maintain the LegacyTexas Business Center, which features a 150 seating capacity conference room, smaller meeting areas, individual workstations, a kitchen and a coffee bar. High speed Wi-Fi and access to a printer/copier/scanner and shredder will compliment the services.

“The LegacyTexas Business Center will create a professional space for businesses to gather, collaborate and work,” said Jamee. “It makes sense that this business center is part of the Chamber since our mission is to serve the local business community through maximizing business development and economic growth.”

The Chamber and business center will be open 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Thursday and 7:30am to 4:00pm on Fridays. Use of the business center will be available to Plano Chamber members and LegacyTexas clients. Drop-in meeting spaces and areas will be open right away, and online reservations for larger rooms will open mid-September.
