Plano gears up for fifth annual comedy festival

In just five years, the Plano Comedy Festival has become the largest comedy festival in North Texas.  The annual event returns this week with a lineup featuring 30 shows and 140 different acts of stand-up, improv, sketch, magic, hypnosis, and more.

All shows will be held Oct. 13 through 16 at The Plano House of Comedy in The Shops at Legacy and at the North Texas Performing Arts Willow Bend Center of the Arts in The Shops at Willow Bend.

Among this year’s 17 headliners is Mike E. Winfield, a finalist on this season of “America’s Got Talent,” who has also appeared on “The Office,” “The Late Show with David Letterman” and a Netflix special.  Other topping the bill include Jackie Kashian, Matthew Broussard, Angelia Walker, Justin Foster, Dean Lewis, The Comedy Arena, Truth in Comedy, Slick LED Show, Flip Orley, Linda Stogner, Ralph Barbosa, CJ Starr, KeLanna Spiller, Rudy Rush and Paul Varghese.

There will also be musical entertainment from DJ Alexx and workshops facilitated by Dean Lewis of the Stand-Up Workshop and The Comedy Area.

A free family-friends comedy show featuring Linda Stogner of Dry Bar Comedy, The Comedy Arena, and Slick LED Show. will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Willow Bend Center of the Arts.
