Plano Police Department is offering a series of R.A.D. classes geared toward women getting ready for or attending college.

The free classes are a part of a program called Rape Aggression Defense, a set of programs with over 11,000 trainers around the nation. R.A.D. has several programs ranging from 9-12 hours for all demographics, and offers a lifetime return policy where participants can participate in the program for free at any point in their life.

The Plano Police Department is offering the course for free over four training days for women aged 15 and older, though the class is geared toward women entering or enrolled in college.

The course will teach basic self-defense strategies, self-awareness, risk reduction and avoidance techniques on July 20, 21, 27 and 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Chase Oaks Church Legacy Campus. The church is located at 281 Legacy Dr.

Those interested in participating in the program can register at https://radcollege.eventbrite.com.
