Rent Cafe’s latest report on America’s top cities for renters was based on three categories: quality of life, local economy and housing/cost of living.

Plano ranks #7 for quality of life due to its school system, air quality and over 70% of its apartments being in prime spots. Finally, Plano is #45 for housing and cost of living due to its high-quality apartments and ease of finding a rental. However, Plano’s cost of living is 16.6% higher than the U.S. average, affecting its ranking.

Cities in Texas that are rated higher for renters than Plano include Austin at #7, Round Rock at #6 and McKinney at #4. The number one city for renters is Charleston, SC.
