Support Local TX is a community-created movement to help the cities of Plano, Dallas and Richardson through crisis. Whether it’s a pandemic or a natural disaster, the Support Local founders want to ensure the well-being of its North Texas community. Through their work, they hope to “slice through the noise and be the light in an otherwise dark environment,” according to the website. “Together we are strong. Together we will prevail.”

Through online sales of Support Local merchandise and donations from the community, this group, comprised of North Texas business owners, is driving financial support to struggling local businesses and people in need. Some ways they have helped already are grants to small businesses and covering mortgage payments and car payments for families who have lost income due to the pandemic.

“We are helping folks…with anything that can help get through the lull right now without falling apart,” co-founder Scott Zimmerman shared. “It’s all nomination driven. Those in need can either self-nominate or get nominated by someone else. Our committee reviews the nominations and grants the funds as required.”

Local businesses who came together to create Support Local TX include ETCHUS, Blue Circle Media, The Specific Chiropractic Center, The UPS Store in Canyon Creek Shopping Center, Crest Painting, HoodRat Glass Company, Mohment, Starter Girlz Podcast, Mylo Draven, Crossfit 1310, Don’t Be So Brewed Podcast, the studio dallas and DorianBahr.

If you’d like to support their cause, you can make a financial donation online, buy a cool t-shirt or pint glass, share their Facebook group, or nominate a small business in need.

Support Local TX will host an online Concerts-N-Quarantine streaming event on May 3 to raise funds for grant recipients.
