“Twofer” birthday to combine Independence and Plano 150th

After ending Plano's 150th birthday celebration early due to rain, Plano's All American 4th will be bigger and better this year.

After rain ended Plano’s 150th birthday celebration early, the City of Plano has plans to make it a “twofer” by making July 4 bigger and better by bringing the birthday celebration to the Fourth.

The festival kicks of at 6 p.m., followed by a parade organized by Plano Rotary Clubs at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks at 9:30 p.m.  Participants can enjoy the free kid zone, H-E-B cupcakes and a grand Happy Birthday to Plano song.  Festival food like kettle corn, ice cream, lemonade, hotdogs and funnel cakes will be available for purchase.

Blankets, lawn chairs and coolers are welcome, but the City of Plano asks that pets, alcoholic beverages and fireworks be left at home. Parking is available at the college located at 2800 E. Spring Creek Pkwy.

Organizations, schools and individuals are invited to enter a float into the parade. Registration ends June 16 and can be found at www.rotaryparadesofplano.com
