Victorian Eggstravaganza and Spring Festival returns to Heritage Farmstead

The Heritage Farmstead Museum’s annual Victorian Eggstravaganza and Spring Festival returns April 9. It will feature an egg hunt with thousands of prize-filled eggs for children ages 10 and under. Guests of all ages will delight in the joys of spring on the Blackland Prairie with the shearing of the Farmstead’s sheep and a variety of other family-friendly activities.

“Grab your Easter basket and join us for a fun day on the Farmstead,” Heritage Farmstead Museum Executive Director M’Lou Hyttinen said. “Take a step back in time with us at this unique, springtime event!”

The event will also include hands-on demonstrations, historic exhibits, hayrides, food trucks, children’s crafts, house tours, historical activities, a photo booth, live banjo and ukulele music and more.

The Victorian Eggstravaganza and Spring Festival event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Egg hunts for children three and under start at 10:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Egg hunts for children ages four to six years start at 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Egg hunts for children seven to 10 years start at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Children are encouraged to bring their own Easter baskets.

Online admission and egg hunt ticket purchase is preferred, and a $2 discount is available if tickets are purchased online. Egg hunts fill up on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission tickets are $6 per child, $8 for adults and $5 for Heritage Farmstead Museum members. Egg hunt tickets are $2 per child for all children birth to 10 years. Food truck purchases will be charged separately.  All photo booth proceeds benefit the farm’s livestock program.

The Heritage Farmstead Museum is also debuting its new spring exhibit, titled ‘For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow” in the Farrell Wilson Home, which depicts an early 19th Century George Washington-themed birthday party complete with games, ice cream and patriotic ragtime music.
This event is sponsored in part by the City of Plano. The Heritage Farmstead Museum is located at 1900 West 15th Street in Plano.
