It's official - Plano is one of the happiest places to live in the United States, right behind Frisco and several California cities.

Of the 200 largest cities in the United States, Plano ranked 6th in a recent study to determine the happiest places for Americans to live.

Researchers at SmartAsset analyzed personal finance, well-being and quality of life across each city and Plano came in with the fourth-highest marriage rate and the 10th-lowest violent crime rate, earning the city 6th place right behind Frisco. Frisco ranked #5, with the number one spots for marriage rate and percentage of residents living below the poverty-level.

California topped almost all of the rest of the top 10 chart with the highest percentages of individuals earning $100,000 or more, lower costs of living as a percent of income, lower personal bankruptcy filings per 100,000 residents and lower down payment-to-income ratio. Violent crime rate, percent reporting poor mental health days, life expectancy, health insurance, commute times and concentration of dining, bars and entertainment establishments were also contributing factors.
