City to offer free citizenship workshop this weekend

The workshop will discuss applying for citizenship, with information on area citizenship and ESL courses and local attorneys.
The City of Plano and the Plano Multicultural Outreach Roundtable (MCOR) will be hosting a free citizenship workshop at the Sockwell Center on Saturday, February 8 at 2 p.m.
The workshop aims to discuss applying for citizenship, including who can apply, how to apply, when to apply and the benefits of citizenship. Participating speakers and topics include the Immigration and Naturalization Service, information on English as a second language providers, nonprofit-led citizenship courses and immigration attorneys.
Sandeep Srivastava, a neighbor who is known for his diverse corporate resume and recent run against Keith Self for Congress, will discuss his journey from a newly-arrived student in the United States to the citizenship process.
Refreshments will be served courtesy of Jimmy’s Grill Plano, Crescent Moon Chinese Restaurant and the Baha’i Center with desserts from Alma Law Firm and an ice cream bar from Ked’s Artisan Ice Cream & Treats.
The Sockwell Center is located at 6301 Chapel Hill Blvd.
