Nonprofit The Turning Point turns 40

The rape crisis center has been educating, counseling and advocating for victims of sexual violence in Plano for 40 years.

This fall, Plano-based rape crisis center The Turning Point is celebrating its 40th anniversary in Downtown Plano.

The celebration began with the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event, inviting men and allies to walk a mile in women’s literal shoes to raise awareness of sexual violence, gender relations and survivor support, which took place on Oct. 4 at 9 a.m.

On Thursday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m., The Turning Point will host its 40th Anniversary Luncheon: “Rooted in Hope & Healing” in event1013 East 15th St. in Downtown Plano. The luncheon will include a silent auction, live music and special guest remarks.

“This milestone is not just about looking back at our history,” said Wendy Hanna, executive director of The Turning Point. “It’s about honoring survivors and reaffirming our commitment to building a safer, healthier future for all.”

Tickets are available online for $65 per person.

The Turning Point provides counseling, education and advocacy for those impacted by sexual violence.
