Diggers Cove, an indoor sensory sand playground, is opening this month at Legacy Drive and Independence Parkway.
The playground features an open sand pit featuring silica-free, non-toxic sand sourced from the Bahamas that is cleaned and fluffed daily.
Interactive play zones feature remote control construction vehicles, an animated sandbox and an interactive creative wall for open-ended digital play.
“Most indoor play spaces felt loud, overwhelming, and overstimulating, for both kids and parents. As a mom, I knew there had to be a better way,” Diggers Cove Founder and Planoite Saira Waheed said. “I wanted to create a space where children could slow down, dig, build, and truly enjoy play without all the chaos, and where parents could feel calm, comfortable, and present. Every detail, from the sand we source to the layout of the room, was designed with that in mind.”
Waheed set out to open Diggers Cove after her fast-paced mom life slowed down during treatment for triple-negative breast cancer.
“The noise of daily life quieted, and what remained were the smallest moments: her children building something out of nothing, narrating their own stories, laughing over a game only they understood,” her bio reads. “Those moments, she realized, were never small at all. They were everything.”
No reservation is required. Diggers Cove is expected to open this month at 7200 Independence Parkway, Suite 238.
“The simple moments of watching my children play, imagine, and laugh became the moments I treasured most. That is what I wanted to build a place around,” Waheed said.
