Texans aren’t immune to the allure of Southern hospitality – we love to entertain. In fact, studies show that the average homeowner spends $25,000 on backyard amenities, even though outdoor spaces are uncomfortably hot 40% of the year. Originally from Serbia, Plano neighbors Boris and Jelena Medic set to remedy this with a new high-pressure misting system that that they’re calling aerMist.

“The most popular summer activities take place outdoors,” Jelena says. “People don’t have to miss out on barbecues, relaxing in fresh air, or working in a garden in the hottest of temperatures thanks to aerMist.”

The aerMist system can lower the temperature of any outdoor space by up to 20 degrees by generating tiny water droplets that evaporate, creating a cooling effect while keeping everything dry. The system works through a proprietary app that starts and stops the misting system through the push of a virtual button. The app can control up to four systems at once, and comes in two misting models that range from $935 to $1,135.

Jelena and Boris brought their professional experiences together to create the system in 2020, combining Jelena’s background in finance and Boris’ background in engineering to create a brand new concept that released in August 2021.

The University of Texas at Dallas graduates also designed the system to be eco-friendly. By utilizing a high-pressure approach rather than low or medium pressure, the aerMist system uses less water than traditional systems. The high-pressure also is a natural bug deterrent.
