ArtCentre of Plano celebrates 40 years

The ArtCentre of Plano announced that its annual awards event will be held Saturday, Nov. 6.  A host of individuals and organizations will be honored for their commitment to and support of the arts. They were selected by a panel of judges including representatives from area nonprofit arts organizations.

This year’s event has been dubbed “For the Love of Art: Celebrating 40 Years.” It will include music food and fun from the early 1980s, the era when the ArtCentre was established. Mayor John Muns and his wife Joa will serve as honorary chairs of the celebration.

Among those slated to receive awards are local artist Amy Pagan (Artist Award) and the Plano Community Band Music4Life Outreach Program (Arts Education Award). Atmos Energy will be presented with the Business/Corporate award, while the Plano Arts Coalition will receive the Organization Award.

Other award winners include The Plano North Metroplex TX Chapter of The Links, Inc. (Special Recognition Award), Marion Brockette (Leadership Award), The Plano Arts Coalition (Organization Award), Tom Venner (Volunteer Award) and Sara Akers (Lifetime Achievement Award).

Plano Magazine Founders Jennifer and Luke Shertzer will receive the Impresario award in recognition of their efforts to promote the arts and support local arts organizations.
