Breathe easy with Belluscura, a Plano company providing affordable portable oxygen

We don’t think about oxygen all that much until we need it, and we can’t breathe in enough.

Then what?

Those in the know turn to neighborhood company Belluscura, an oxygen enrichment startup that expects to release a range of innovative medical products worldwide within the next few years.

The company’s state-of-the-art Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC), called X-PLO2R, re-defines supplemental oxygen delivery and gives folks back their quality of life without the need to pull a bulky, unsightly oxygen tank with them wherever they go.

The FDA-cleared X-PLO2R delivers more oxygen per pound than any other POC its size.

And there’s no comparison to the Belluscura device’s comfort and discretion for its users.

These days, in addition to traditional COPD culprits such as asthma, bronchitis and emphysema, there’s an anticipated increased demand for POC devices thanks to the after-effects of “long COVID”, when debilitating symptoms of the virus linger.

The growing home-healthcare industry also is boosting demand for portable oxygen to help individuals who need more oxygen in their blood.

Other factors fueling huge demand for portable oxygen concentrators are the increasing prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, growing consumer acceptance for the healthcare value of oxygen therapy devices, and increasing investment by manufacturing companies in the production of homecare products.

Currently, more women than men are now being diagnosed with COPD Cosmetic demand is on the rise too, as anti-aging oxygen pods are becoming more popular with people seeking personalized treatments to make them look and feel younger.

Belluscura initially received start-up funding from a United Kingdom backer; its value three years ago was $2 million.

Through a recent IPO on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), a sub-market of the London Stock Exchange, Belluscura recently was valued at $70 million, thanks to the growing demand for portable oxygen across the board, not just in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, but also in industrial fields, mining, automobile and mineral processing industries.

Neighbor and Belluscura CEO Robert Rauker, says “A little over three years ago we decided to design and develop what we believed would be the most physically and economically effective oxygen concentrator in the world.

With a weight just over 3 pounds and a cost below the competition, we believe we have achieved our initial goal of bringing an innovative product to the market that results in lower healthcare costs.” Consumers with a prescription will be able to acquire the X-PLO2R either online or through a durable medical equipment company later this summer.

The device is only the first for Belluscura: In the company’s pipeline are plans to innovate supplemental oxygen products in research and development.

Long-term, Belluscura could begin to develop improved ventilators, too.
