Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19. If you’re stuck for ideas on treating your dad (or husband) to a nice father’s day out, we’ve got a list of dude-centric activities for every corner of Plano.
1. Brunch and brew.
You can’t go wrong treating dad to craft beer and pub food. European-style The Fillmore Pub hits the mark with its focus on craft beers from all over the world, an extensive whiskey list, house-made pork rinds and a full menu of upscale bar and brunch fair.
Newly opened Hash House a Go Go on the west side of town is serving up award-winning “twisted farm food.” The made-for-Texas menu features big flavors and its interpretation of comforting Southern favorites that every diner should love. Grab a seat on the patio and spoil dad with the famous Sage Fried Chicken and Waffles tower, or perhaps something from the Bloody Mary bar.
2. Have an adventure.
Hang in the treetops, swing like Tarzan and take in a different view of Oak Point Park at Go Ape Zip Line and Treetop Adventure. Get dad’s adrenalin pumping with multiple zip lines and obstacles throughout the canopy, then unwind with a hike through the park and nature preserve.
Hard Knocks indoor laser tag on the west side of town features more than 85 different challenging combat missions to enjoy with the whole family. Bonus: Dads play for free on Father’s Day!
3. Laugh it off.
The “always funny, always free” Friday Night Comedy at Taste of the Islands attracts up and coming as well as established acts every week. Dad can enjoy home-cooked Caribbean food and comics that push the boundaries in the weekly adults-only comedy show.
Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub draws some of the biggest names in the business. Buy dad a ticket, come for the show and stay for the food. This location has an eclectic menu that goes beyond bar food.
We recommend making reservations before visiting any of the places above.
