Brianna Ruelas releases single years in the making

After years of helping others get into the music business, singer-songwriter Brianna Ruelas recently release her own single. The 42-year-old’s debut single, “Thieves,” is now available on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon and other streaming platforms. It’s a project she has been working on for a few years now.
“I’m very excited to finally get it out there,” she said.
Ruelas began writing the song as a response to going through difficult times. She was struggling with being an entrepreneur, author of two books mom. She and her husband also owned a restaurant, Victor Hugo’s which they had close after seven years due to the pandemic. Her hope is that the song will resonate with other female entrepreneurs and moms who are trying to pursue a create pare and are willing to acknowledge that can often be tough.
The song’s title was inspired by a neighbor who once told her, “comparison is the thief of joy.” It’s a concept she believes many people can relate to today whether they are thinking of other paths they could have taken or comparing their lives how others portray themselves on social media.
Ruelas has been active in the music industry for nearly two decades. She serves as a reality television music coach and has an online course called the Reality Singing Show Success Academy. One of her students will be on the upcoming season of “American Idol.” Now, after years of songwriting and mentoring others, she says it’s very gratifying to finally be releasing her own music.
“It’s certainly been a journey. Not just my journey but the song’s has evolved so much,” she says. “To have something that’s my own that’s out there makes me very very proud.”
