City and Rotary Club team up for veterans tribute

The City of Plano and the Rotary Club of Plano will jointly host a tribute to veterans and first responders starting November 5. Flags will soon start popping up at Red Tail Pavilion at Oak Point Park. They are intended to demonstrate the community’s gratitude for those who have served. Everyone is invited to come out and see the 1,111 full-sized American flags. Each will be accompanied by a story submitted by someone in the community to honor a friend or loved one.

“The Plano Flags of Honor manifests itself as something we can see and touch when we remember those who have served our nation and our communities,” Rotarian and Marine Corps. Captain Ean Sullivan says.

Flags will be installed on Nov. 4 and will be on display from Nov. 5 through Nov. 12.

This is the sixth year that this event has been held at the Pavilion. This year, Plano’s first responders will also be highlighted during a safety fair and touch-a-truck event on Saturday, November 5th.
