Crayola Announces 60,000-Square-Foot Family Experience in Plano

This morning, the Crayola brand announced plans for the Crayola Experience Plano, coming to The Shops at Willow Bend in Spring 2018. The 60,000-square-foot space will be the fourth Crayola Experience in the U.S. and will be a new addition between the shopping center’s food court and Macy’s.

Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere, Mayor Pro Tem Lissa Smith and Plano City Council member Angela Miner welcomed CEO Smith Holland and other Crayola executives at the press conference officially announcing the new location. Students from Primrose School interacted with retiring crayon character Dandelion before they tested out some of the Crayola products (including good old-fashioned crayons).

With the original location in Easton, PA and two more locations in Orlando and Minnesota’s Mall of America, Crayola chose Plano for their fourth location due to the fact that our city is growing and family-friendly. “Crayola Experience is more than just an attraction. It’s a place where families come together to create, play and make memories that will last a lifetime,” Crayola CEO Smith Holland said. “When we visited Plano, we saw a friendly, growing, family-oriented community, and we can’t wait to be a dynamic and colorful part of it.”

Mayor LaRosiliere credited Crayola’s choice to the fact that Plano has become a premier city in America: “This is a destination for people all over the country – we’re a destination from an employment standpoint. To have Crayola choose Plano speaks volumes about who we are and who we’ve grown up to be.”

At Crayola Experience Plano guests will enjoy at least 22 hands-on attractions, including classic experiences such as naming and wrapping their own Crayola crayon (Wrap It Up!), starring in their own coloring page (Be a Star), using their touch to bring art to 4-D life (Color Magic), creating melted wax spin-art (Drip Art) and learning how crayons are made in a live Factory Show, as well as a few new experiences that will make their debut in Texas.

The 5,000-square-foot retail space, the Crayola Store, features the world’s largest collection of Crayola products and unique souvenirs found only at Crayola Experience. It will be open to the public, regardless of whether they choose to visit the entire experience or not.

Regular admission to Crayola Experience Plano will be $19.99 per person. Annual passes will be available for $29.99 per person.
