David Hasselhoff’s Visit to Plano

On Tuesday, March 28 David Hasselhoff, Mitch Buchannon and Knight Rider all visited downtown Plano to promote the opening of XO Coffee Company. Hasselhoff’s nephew, David Martin, and David’s wife, Linda McCall, are the owners of the new neighborhood eatery, which opened February 11.

People started lining up around 2pm for the event which ran from approximately 3:30-6:30pm. The line grew until it wrapped around the corner, past Shinola. Fans of all ages lined the sidewalk, holding items they brought for Hasselhoff to sign, which included vintage Knight Rider lunch boxes, lifeguard gear, Baywatch photographs, a poster from a pinball machine and a replica of Kit (and yes, it talked in Kit’s voice). It seemed half the line were there because they wanted to be Knight Rider when they were kids, and the other half were there to stare into Hoff’s dreamy blue eyes while sipping on a cup of “hoffee.”

Before the public event started, Hasselhoff posed for photos with a few Plano Parks and Recreation lifeguards to promote the summer lifeguard program (clever, clever idea, City of Plano). Plano Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Ben Harris also proclaimed Hasselhoff an honorary citizen of Plano.

Once the doors opened and guests made it inside (some patiently waited in line over an hour), The Hoff was nice enough to sign memorabilia, chat a little bit and pose for fan photos for over three hours.
