Haunt Jaunt Night 5K and Fun Run 2016

Calling all pint-sized Pikachus and Princess Leias, all tiny T-Rexes and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

This weekend is the 5th Annual Haunt Jaunt, the City of Plano’s Halloween-themed night 5K and fun run. Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to the nighttime event on Saturday, October 15 at the Amphitheater at Oak Point Park.

Haunt Jaunt racers compete in timed 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run events that follow along paved paths and picturesque nature preserve trails. Local performance groups provide spooky thrills with live Halloween scenes along the race route (kid appropriate, of course). Each child that participates in the 1-Mile fun run gets a free parent entered as well. Brownie points if you don light-up gear because the 5K happens after sunset. Runners are allowed to wear headlamps on the trail.

Presented by the Medical Center of Plano and City of Plano Parks and Recreation, proceeds from the event benefit the City of Plano’s Adapted Recreation programs which allow individuals with special needs to participate in a wide variety of recreational activities.

You’re probably going to work up an appetite on the race route, so good thing the In-N-Out Burger Mobile Unit will be serving free meals to all registered participants throughout the event. Even if running isn’t exactly your thing, don your Halloween best and come just for the costume parade (with prizes!) and a free screening of the 80s cult classic film, “The Goonies.” Plano Magazine will also have a free photo booth to capture your best Rey and Finn costumes.
