MC Trivia, a beloved weekly trivia night hosted by local dynamic duo Mike Mazur and Curtis Gittinger, is celebrating five years of fun this Wednesday, March 3. Though MC Trivia previously took place at different locations in historic Downtown Plano for four years, it has been virtual for nearly a full year now. Still, the weekly trivia nights have been going strong as game-lovers are undeterred by playing on Zoom.
“We are grateful to the community for welcoming us and MC Trivia into their lives. We are proud to be Plano residents, and look forward to five more years – at least – of questions, answers and laughter with MC Trivia,” shared Mike.
Before the pandemic, each week’s winning team was awarded a gift card from a Downtown Plano restaurant. Since the weekly event moved to Zoom, the winning team’s prize is getting to choose a category for the following week of MC Trivia. That’s part of the fun of this game: Mike and Curtis research the topics and come up with their own original questions. Because of that, the questions are tailored to specific areas of interest.
“While we make sure all players new and returning will feel included and have a chance to win, those who have played before will definitely find some inside jokes celebrating our long-term players,” Curtis shared about this week’s special anniversary edition. “But the questions themselves, will, as always, cover a range of categories from pop culture to history to sports and general knowledge.”
MC Trivia is partnering with North Texas Performing Arts (NTPA) to support the performing arts during the pandemic. Mike’s day job is managing director of the Plano theater. MC Trivia is free to play, but there will be an option to donate to NTPA when you register.
