North Texas Performing Arts recently announced that Jason Robert Villarreal has been promoted to Senior Resident Director.
He has been part of the NTPA creative staff since 2019. During that time has directed dozens of shows as well as taught acting, make-up and costume classes. He’s known for bringing a positive attitude and a dramatic sense of style to every production he leads. In addition to his directorial responsibilities, he also manages NTPA’s Costume Closet, which provides affordable, convenient costume rentals to all NTPA productions.
Jason began his journey with the performing arts studying the dance Ballet Folklorico in his hometown of Edinburg. In 2006 he moved to Dallas to attend The University of Texas at Arlington where he graduated with a BFA in Theatre Performance. Before joining the NTPA team, Jason performed in multiple national tours including Dora The Explorer (Tico The Squirrel), Rapunzel, A Very Hairy Fairy Tale (Socretese), and A Christmas Story.
