Plano city officials announced Monday that the city was recertified as a Platinum Scenic City during the annual Texas Municipal League Conference. The platinum award is the highest recognition through the Scenic City Certification Program, a program of Scenic Texas.
The mission of the Scenic City Certification program is to recognize cities with high-quality scenic standards for roads and public spaces. In order to earn the designation, municipalities are evaluated based on their ordinances and code language in 10 areas including parks, trails and open spaces, lighting standards, landscaping, litter and graffiti control efforts and special programs.
Plano first earned Platinum certification in 2012 and was recertified in 2017. This latest recertification will be valid through 2027.
